Sam Gibson was born in Auckland New Zealand in the early seventies. At the age of 3 he moved to a small farm in Waimauku where he listened to the peaceful and very boring sound of the countryside.

Not long later at 9 years old he moved to Red Beach. The lovely and peaceful seaside drove him to boredom once again so he forced his parents into buying him a drum set. This is where the boredom ceased and the love of noise (& music) began.

Soon enough he was playing in all sorts of bands and causing many a headache for his loving family (actually they forced him to build a sound proof room under the house, which he (actually it was mostly his big sisters boyfriend) built. Being a logical young man he quickly learned the art of making even more noise by using such things as microphones, amps and motheringlee large sound systems.

It was around this time being 17 years young and a little crazy he thought it might be cool to record all the noise his life was now surrounded by, so under his own steam or more factually in his mini van he travelled back to the place of his birth and enrolled himself into a 1 year audio engineering course.

It was around this time he realised that in recording studios you had big comfy chairs and lots of coffee to drink, which of course was very appealing.

Unsure and unwise he began a very short career in painting (houses), this paid Sam’s rent but also was pretty lame, so he was forced to think hard about his future. He took stock of his skills, made some hard decisions and eventually decided that what he wanted was to have money, with out having to labour for it. So he went on the dole.
For a year or so Sam was a government sponsored surfer/studio guy.

Eventually Sam landed a non paying job at a large recording studio. It was here that Sam was thrown in the deep end and proved to be a very good swimmer. It wasn’t long before Sam could finally afford to live without bleeding dry the tax paying citizens of New Zealand and got paid for his skills.

Eventually in 1995 all the swimming around paid off and through the help of Tchad Blake he landed a job in England. Since this time Sam has travelled around the globe many times Recording Music and having a laugh.

Now Sam is happily married, he lives in Hereford England and now enjoys the peaceful sound of the countryside. Luckily he has a great studio 3 minutes drive from his house to continue recording music and having a laugh.

As for the future Sam hopes to one day be rich enough to hire someone else write a biography for his website as he feels “like a teabag” writing in the third person.
